Other things about our great hospital and residency:
- We have essentially every medicine fellowship in-house (except allergy & immunology currently). In addition, we have residencies in Surgery, Urology, Family Medicine, Anesthesia, Neurology, ENT, OBGYN, Radiology, and Vascular Surgery. We are nationally recognized in 10 specialties.
- Rotate and learn from world-renowned faculty! People come from all over the world to seek care here at Houston Methodist.
- As residents, we get to run all code blues in the hospital and are also on the front line with transfers (i.e., we speak directly with the transferring physician and appropriately triage these patients).
- Learn from diverse and complex pathology! As a tertiary care center, we get transfers from many other institutions seeking more advanced diagnostic workup and management. You will also get additional exposure on subspecialty rotations as well.
- Our beautiful facilities! Houston Methodist Hospital consists of 8 large buildings all connected to each either via tunnels and skywalks. A 9th tower is currently under construction. It is a one stop shop for your training here at Houston Methodist!
- Houston Methodist is a unique institution because we are a hybrid academic center. We are affiliated with Texas A&M Medical School and Weill Cornell. We also have students from UTMB rotating through our services as well. You get great exposure to both sides of medicine: Academic and Private.
- Amazing perks during residency! Methodist treats trainees well with 401k matching, free health insurance, and bonuses.
- Great fellowship matches! Whether you choose to stay at our home institution or seek additional training elsewhere, our program sets you up for successful for whatever career path you choose.
